Meaning of Development.
Child development refers to the sequence of physical, language, thought and emotional changes that occur in a child from birth. It is a lifelong process.
Development is the process of quantitative and qualitative growth of the child.
It is the function of maturity as well as interaction with the environment.
It is a change from Dependency to Autonomy.
It is a process that includes
Ø Growth (বৃদ্ধি)
Ø Maturation (পূৰ্ণতা)
Ø Learning (শিক্ষণ)
q Growth (বৃদ্ধি): - Growth refers to an increase in the physical aspects of a child.
q Maturation(পূৰ্ণতা): - Maturation is the process of becoming mature.
q Learning(শিক্ষণ): - Learning is the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, and behaviours through experience, training and education.
Difference Between Growth And Development-
Ø Growth refers to quantitative changes in size which include physical changes in height, weight, size, internal organs, etc.
Ø Development refers to qualitative changes taking place simultaneously with quantitative changes in growth.
Ø Development is a wider term and includes growth i.e. it is more of a comprehensive concept which not only includes quantitative enlargement but also includes Qualitative expansion.
Ø Development occurs without growth.
